Last Sunday, Tacora Cello Duo performed at the Dorpskerkconcerten in Leimuiden. The church, catalogued as a Rijksmonument, was fully restored in 2012 and has since become a meeting point for the town, hosting a variety of activities, including this wonderful concert series.

It was a fantastic experience! Thank you so much for the flawless organization and the warm reactions. We hope to return another time! 🎻🎻

We’re thrilled to bring you the full version of “El Candil”, a beloved traditional melody from Extremadura, the Spanish region Jorge comes from! 🇪🇸✨

This tune carries an interesting background: it’s thought to have originated as a "fado batido" from Portugal, where stamping feet set the rhythm ("batir" means "to stamp" in Portuguese). Over time, as it crossed borders and evolved, it transformed into the lively Spanish rhythm we know today.
